Tom Tatun is a seasoned government relations professional with over a decade of experience driving public policy, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement across state and local government. Appointed executive director of the Retired Public Employees Association (RPEA) in the Spring of 2025, Tom brings a deep commitment to public service and a personal connection to the organization’s mission of protecting and promoting the rights of New York’s retired public employees.
Prior to joining RPEA, Tom held leadership roles in public affairs and policy at organizations such as Wonderschool, the National Service Office for Nurse-Family Partnership and Child First, and the Association of School Business Officials of New York. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for building bipartisan coalitions, securing public funding for vital programs, and crafting advocacy strategies that produce lasting results. His early experiences as a legislative aide and budget analyst in the New York State Assembly and Division of State Police have provided a strong foundation for his policy expertise.
Tom holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy from the University at Albany. His passion for RPEA’s mission is deeply personal—both his father and uncle are lifelong RPEA members—making this role a meaningful continuation of his commitment to supporting those who dedicated their careers to public service.
