State Budget Adopted…NYSHIP Cuts Rejected

On Sunday, the Senate re-convened in Albany to pass the final portion of the state budget, which the Assembly had passed on Saturday.

We are pleased to report that the budget does NOT include the cuts in Medicare reimbursement and the elimination of IRMAA payments to NYSHIP retirees. Now that the budget has been passed, it supersedes the “extender bills” which had been adopted previously.

In regard to the federal budget which will be released next month, the Governor was given wide flexibility in how to respond to any cuts, subject to the opportunity for the legislature to modify any such action.

Once again, we thank the legislature for their support, and look forward to continued success when it returns after the Easter recess.
