Janice Beutner-Shirtz

Jan Beutner-Shirtz will fill out the late Jim Rulison’s unexpired term until 2027. She has been a member of RPEA since 2006. She served as chairperson of the Genesee Valley chapter for seven years and on that chapter’s steering committee for 18 years. The Genesee Valley Chapter was one of the oldest founded in NYS. It enjoyed a long history serving RPEA members of Rochester/Monroe County and the Finger Lakes areas. Unfortunately, the chapter went inactive in 2023. Jan retired from the NYS Office of Children’s Services after working for 25 years as a vocational-rehabilitation counselor for the Commission for the Blind and Visually Handicapped, an agency of OCFS. She began her career as a special education teacher working for Cayuga County BOCES and for Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES. She has been a member of RPEA for over 20 years.
