November 16, 2023: RPEA Participates in Healthcare Panel

RPEA Executive Director Ed Farrell participated in a panel discussion at the New York Health Plan Association (HPA) Annual Conference on Thursday, November 16, 2023. In addition to Farrell, the panel discussion, View From The Marketplace, featured National Association of Benefits and Insurance Professionals – New York State Chapter Past President Andrew Biernat; Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York Executive Director Nic Rangel Esq., M.P.A.; and NY HPA Executive Vice President Kathy Preston.

Farrell discussed the reasons why RPEA does not support the proposed single-payer legislation in New York State, and how the lack of access to skilled nursing care for Empire Plan retirees is a prime example of age discrimination in the delivery of healthcare. He commended Senator Neil Breslin and Assemblyman John McDonald for their efforts in trying to correct this.
