More than 130 Bill Sponsors Support Protections for State and Municipal Retirees

More than 130 state legislators have signed on to co-sponsor the Health Equity for Retirees Act as of May 20, 2024, which would guarantee healthcare benefit protections for retirees. Specifically, it would prohibit public employers from diminishing health insurance benefits provided to retirees and their beneficiaries or lessening the contributions those employers make for health insurance coverage. Last month, RPEA joined the NYC Organization of Public Service Retirees for a rally at the State Capitol urging legislators to pass this legislation.
