RPEA Seeks Support in Budget Resolutions
With the new fiscal year approaching on April 1, each house of the Legislature is preparing its Budget Resolution which will serve as the basis for negotiating a final state budget. Accordingly, Retired Public Employees Association President Jack McPadden has contacted the legislative leaders to reinforce RPEA’s positions, which were previously presented at the Joint Fiscal Committees Hearing on the Executive Budget. In addition to calling upon the Legislature to reject Governor Cuomo’s cuts for Medicare eligible retirees in NYSHIP, McPadden also urged the inclusion of items in RPEA’s Legislative Agenda which contain certain fiscal impacts. McPadden noted, “The legislature has acknowledged that there will be revenues in excess of what the Governor had estimated. Retirees remain a vibrant force in New York’s economy, and the enactment of these measures will only enhance that position. We urge that they be included in the budget”.
RPEA remains the ONLY organization whose SOLE purpose is to represent the interests of retired public employees.
